Liszt Liebestraume No.3 for Violin and Piano


Liebesträume (German for ‘Dreams of Love’) is a set of three solo Piano works by Franz Liszt, published in 1850. Two versions appeared simultaneously: for high Voice andPiano, as well as as transcriptions for Piano two-hands.


The three poems depict three different forms of love. Uhland's ‘Hohe Liebe’ is saintly or religious love: the 'martyr' renounces worldly loveand'heaven has opened its gates'. The second song ‘Seliger Tod’ is often known by its first line, and evokes erotic love. Freiligrath's poem for the famous third notturno is about unconditional mature love ('Love as long asyoucan!', 'O lieb, so lang du lieben kannst').


This edition of the latter, Liebestraume No. 3, is transcribed for Violin and Piano. The same melody is used throughout the entire popularpiece, each time varied, especially near the middle of the work, where the climax is reached.


This favourite Piano classic should be a staple in any pianists repertoire, and is a great new addition to theViolin programme as well!


Liebesträume(독일어로 '사랑의 꿈')은 1850년에 출판된 프란츠 리스트의 세 가지 피아노 솔로 작품 세트입니다. 두 가지 버전이 동시에 등장했습니다. 높은 음색과 피아노를 위한 버전과 피아노 양손을 위한 필사본입니다.


세 편의 시는 세 가지 다른 형태의 사랑을 묘사합니다. Uhland의 'Hohe Liebe'는 성스러운 또는 종교적인 사랑입니다. '순교자'는 세상적인 사랑을 포기하고 '하늘이 문을 열었습니다'. 두 번째 곡 'Seliger Tod'는 첫 번째 라인으로 흔히 알려져 있으며, 에로틱한 사랑을 불러일으킨다. 유명한 세 번째 노투르노(notturno)에 대한 Freiligrath의 시는 무조건적인 성숙한 사랑에 관한 것입니다('Love as long as you can!', 'O lieb, so lang du lieben kannst').


후자의 이 판본인 Liebestraume No. 3은 바이올린과 피아노를 위해 편곡되었습니다. 인기곡 전체에 걸쳐 동일한 멜로디가 사용되며, 특히 클라이막스에 도달하는 작품 중반부에서 매번 다양합니다.
