Jean Doue: Etude technique et stylistique de l`harmonie
Harmony / Improvisation - Musical training
This new harmony treatise is organised in five parts, each one in relation to technical and stylistic information relative to different periods in the history of music:
- the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque era, for an initiation in three-note chords,
- the Baroque and pre-Classical periods, for the handling of tonal functions, strengthening of cadences, simple modulations and an initiation in four-note chords,
- the Classical period, in which keyboard writing is discussed,
- the Romantic period (with, in particular, an approach to the language of Chopin),
- modern French music: Faure, Debussy and Ravel, which allows for studying non-functional chords, added notes, modal colours.
