Barnett Grand Sonata Op.41 for Flute and Piano
The Grand Flute Sonata was probably written at the same time as his Concerto Pastorale for flute which was played at a Covent Garden Promenade Concert in the 1870s. The sonata is exciting, passionate and humorous, enriched with a wealth of melodic line which has been compared with that of Mendelssohn, and, because it is so well written for the instrument, is as enjoyable to play as it is to listen to.
