Bizet’s wonderful Carmen Suite No. 1 gives a perfect taste of the Spanish heat and gypsy passion of this great opera – arranged for wind quintet & piano.

Though not an immediate success, such was the eventual popularity of Bizet`s Carmen that two suites comprising some of the opera`s most popular numbers were compiled by Ernest Guiraud. Suite No 1 comprises six movements - mostly preludes and entr’actes - which do not follow the order they appear in in the opera: Prelude, Aragonaise, Intermezzo, Seguedille, Les Dragons d’Alcala and the Finale (Torreadors).
