Dean Demons for Flute Solo

Composed for Volume 3, the letter "D" of the integral CD project "From A to Z" by the flutist Sharon Bezaly, Brett

Dean makes extensive use of the corresponding note in a seven-minute solo work: "Demons starts with

hammering high Ds, to be played in a highly excited and `demonic` way with an enormous amount of different

timbres, articulations, harmonics and nuances. The piece then takes a new direction and reveals a short, but

dense `rondo form`. The first part, dominated by the `D`, returns in the midst of contrasting sections until its

energy is used up..." Sharon Bezaly`s recording was released on the Swedish BIS label (BIS SACD 1459).
