Revancha, Tango milonga
“Revancha” (Revenge) is the attempt to find a musical language by bringing back to life the “good, old” form of modulation, after an intensive analysis of the techniques of the art of composition within the last 40 years A musical language enabling the listener to sing a lovely melody or clap the rhythm whilst reflecting the simple feelings and moods of everyday life. The music should express the positive, bright and harmonic feelings and moods, as well as the negative, dark, suffering and painful moments in life. This work is free tonal as well polytonal and imitates, formally as well as music-technically, well-known models.
The style of “Revancha” can bee seen as the renaissance of the Tango in the form of a “Tango Nuevo” (New Tango). It also fits into the category of the Post-modern. Despite the numerous conservative elements, “Revancha” should be an up to date creation in the world of contemporary music.
April 2004 Alejandro Geberovich “Revancha” was composed for the “Ersten Musikschulwettbewerb der Musiklehranstalten Wien 2002” (First Competition for Music Academies for Musical Education in Vienna 2002) and was awarded the special prize for the best contemporary work.
The “Trio giocoso”, three of Alejandro Geberovich’s students took part in the 4th. International Competition for Piano for Four Hands in the Bavarian Music Academy in Marktoberdorf on 4th. May 2004 and the trio was awarded the only first prize with distinction for their interpretation of this composition.
