Like Dvorák’s third and fourth quartets (in D major and E minor respectively), String Quartet No. 2 in B-flat major was probably composed between 1868 and 1870, when the young and still inexperienced composer was openly responding to stimuli from his musical surroundings and excitedly adopting new compositional techniques. All three quartets were long considered lost; it was even said that Dvorák destroyed them. But copies of the parts resurfaced in the archive of the Prague Conservatory and have served as the principal source for this new publication.


This edition presents the musical text from the “Antonín Dvorák Complete Edition”, together with a new foreword by Hartmut Schick.


드보르작의 현악 사중주 3번과 4번(각각 D장조와 E단조)처럼, 현악 사중주 2번 B♭장조는 젊고 경험이 부족했던 작곡가가 주변 음악적 자극에 적극적으로 반응하고 새로운 작곡 기법을 열정적으로 수용했던 1868년에서 1870년 사이에 작곡된 것으로 추정됩니다. 이 세 곡의 현악 사중주는 오랫동안 소실된 것으로 여겨졌으며, 심지어 드보르작이 직접 파괴했다는 설까지 있었습니다. 그러나 프라하 음악원 기록 보관소에서 악보 사본이 발견되었고, 이 새로운 출판물의 주요 자료가 되었습니다.


본 판본에는 “안토닌 드보르작 전집”의 악보와 하르트무트 쉬크의 새로운 서문이 함께 수록되어 있습니다.
