1970년대 후반부터 바로크 시대의 종교음악을 소편성으로 연주하는 방법이 유행하기 시작했다. 이것도 그 일환이며 1982년에 제작되었다. 고악기를 사용한 연주인데 가디너의 표현은 매우 현대적이고 샤프한 감각을 지녔으며 리듬감이 좋고 음색이 아름답다. 독창, 합창이 모두 좋고 전체를 드라마틱하게 다듬었다.
