Misek Sonata in e minor Op.6 for Bass and Piano

Adolf Misek, a student of Franz Simandl, is one of the best-known double bassists from the first half of the 20th century. In addition to his position as solo double bassist with the Vienna Philharmonic, he taught at music universities in both Vienna and Prague.

He is considered one of the most important composers of the late romantic era. The present Sonata No. 2 was composed in 1911. The four-movement sonata is one of the standard works that every double bass player should have played at least once.
