The 'Roumanian Folk Dances' for piano were one outcome of Béla Bartók's intensive preoccupation with the folk music of Southeastern Europe. The present composition, dating from 1915, is just one of several similar works from this period in Bartók's life. The pieces are based on authentic folk melodies which Bartók himself wrote down in Roumania, adding his own harmonies. He subsequently arranged the pieces for chamber orchestra (1917), and soon after this Zoltán Székely arranged them for violin and piano with the composer's consent.

It is on this latter version that the present arrangement for clarinet and piano is based. There can be few other instruments which so aptly convey the bucolic character intrinsic to this music than the clarinet.


피아노를 위한 '루마니아 민속 무곡'은 벨라 바르토크가 동남유럽 민속 음악에 깊이 몰두한 결과 중 하나입니다. 1915년에 작곡된 이 작품은 바르토크의 생애에서 이 시기에 작곡된 여러 유사 작품 중 하나입니다. 이 작품들은 바르토크가 루마니아에서 직접 기록하고 자신의 화음을 더한 정통 민속 선율을 기반으로 합니다. 이후 바르토크는 이 곡들을 실내악단으로 편곡했고(1917), 얼마 지나지 않아 졸탄 세케이가 작곡가의 동의를 얻어 바이올린과 피아노로 편곡했습니다.

클라리넷과 피아노를 위한 이 편곡은 바로 이 후자의 버전을 기반으로 합니다. 클라리넷만큼 이 음악에 내재된 전원적인 특징을 잘 전달하는 악기는 거의 없을 것입니다.
