'전쟁 소나타(War Sonatas)' 3부작(6, 7, 8번) 중 첫 번째 작품입니다. 1939년부터 작곡을 시작해 1940년 2월에 완성되었으며, 같은 해 4월 8일 작곡가 자신의 연주로 모스크바에서 초연되었습니다

1. Allegro moderato The first movement introduces the main motto, which is somewhat tonally unstable because it is introduced in both A major and A minor. Thus, it already introduces the uncertainty of the work. Only at the beginning the movement is somewhat tonal. The greater part of it is dominated by grinding dissonances and atonality, further increasing the despair of the work. Throughout most of the piece, there is a lack of key signature. 2. Allegretto The second movement has been described as having a march-like sound with staccato chords, the middle section being melodic. 3. Tempo di valzer lentissimo The third movement is similar to a waltz, slower and romantic. 4. Vivace The closing movement is a rondo, containing material from the opening movement.


1. 알레그로 모데라토 (Allegro moderato) 1악장은 주요 주제를 제시하는데, A장조와 A단조로 동시에 제시되어 조성적으로 다소 불안정한 느낌을 줍니다. 따라서 작품 전체에 걸쳐 불확실성이 느껴집니다. 악장의 시작 부분만 어느 정도 조성적인 모습을 보이며, 대부분은 거친 불협화음과 무조성으로 가득 차 작품의 절망감을 더욱 고조시킵니다. 또한, 곡의 대부분에서 조표가 나타나지 않습니다. 2. 알레그레토 (Allegretto) 2악장은 스타카토 화음이 특징인 행진곡풍의 느낌을 주며, 중간 부분은 선율적입니다. 3. 템포 디 왈츠 렌티시모 (Tempo di valzer lentissimo) 3악장은 왈츠와 유사하며, 느리고 낭만적인 분위기를 자아냅니다. 4. 비바체 (Vivace) 마지막 악장은 론도 형식으로, 1악장의 소재를 포함하고 있습니다.
