Chopin revolutionized the etude – but he ennobled the waltz. He spent much time on this genre throughout his life and created a wide spectrum of forms, from virtuosic showpieces – the Grandes Vales Brillantes – to deeply melancholic atmospheric pictures. All these works have one thing in common: one cannot and should not dance to them! Our volume contains all of the waltzes that were published during Chopin's lifetime, or posthumously, including popular masterpieces such as the so-called “Minute Waltz” (op. 64 no. 1). In cases where two authentic versions of the same waltz have been transmitted, we naturally give the Urtext of both versions.
쇼팽은 에튀드를 혁신했지만, 왈츠라는 장르 자체를 더욱 고귀하게 만들었습니다. 그는 평생 동안 왈츠에 많은 시간을 투자하여 기교를 뽐내는 화려한 작품인 '그랑드 발레 브릴랑트'부터 깊은 슬픔을 담은 분위기 있는 곡까지 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 보여주었습니다. 하지만 이 모든 작품에는 한 가지 공통점이 있습니다. 바로 춤을 출 수 없다는 것입니다! 본 악보집에는 쇼팽 생전이나 사후에 출판된 모든 왈츠가 수록되어 있으며, '미뉴트 왈츠'(작품번호 64, 1번)와 같은 유명한 명곡들도 포함되어 있습니다. 동일한 왈츠의 두 가지 원본 악보가 전해지는 경우에는 두 악보 모두 수록했습니다.
