Mozarts Horn Concerto K.494a has come down to us as a fragment. His reasons for writing the concerto are

as obscure as his reasons for not completing it. The autograph MS, dated 1785-6, only contains a fragmentary

first movement ending after 90 bars. Now Dominic Nunns offers a full reconstruction of the first movement, based on the reliable text published in the New Mozarts other horn concertos.He has thereby added a remarkable late Mozart piece to todays repertoire for solo horn. Besides a piano reduction available for purchase (BA 5349a), the orchestral material for this movement i also available on hire (BA 5349)
