Franz Schubert wrote his " Arpeggione Sonata " in 1824 at the suggestion of the Viennese musician Vinzenz Schuster. This edition is based on the Urtext of the New Schubert Edition; the solo part has been arranged

for performance on viola while the piano part is identical to Schuberts original

This enables players to follow all discerpancies between the original and the arrangement.
